Early next year, NOVONIX will manufacture the materials used to make batteries for electric vehicles here in Chattanooga.
A game changer for Chattanooga is closer to production on the Riverfront at the Old Alstom site. NOVONIX will be the country’s first manufacturer of the materials used in lithium batteries. The company is investing millions in Chattanooga and providing hundreds of new jobs. State and federal leaders gathered Monday afternoon at the new facility. They are calling it ‘Riverside Recharged.’
Most of the materials used to make batteries for electric vehicles come from Asia right now. Early next year, NOVONIX will manufacture the materials here in Chattanooga. Leaders said making materials for lithium batteries here will help solve supply chain issues because they wont have to be shipped from Asia.
“Chattanooga has a real opportunity here to lead the way in our emerging green economy,” Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly said. Read more here
