New Year, New Business Series – Part 1 of 5 – Learning from the best: The Jeff Bezos Story from a Risk Management Perspective

A successful business usually relies on a sound business model that includes (1) desired products or services; (2) reliable distribution; (3) effective marketing; and (4) capital adequacy. This presentation examines Amazon in terms of actions taken by CEO Jeff Bezos…but the same factors are faced by small businesses every day, although there might be fewer zeros on the numbers…to deal with risk and uncertainty. It’s a personal story. A professor gives him a grade for risk management.

Presenter:

Dr. John “Jack” Hampton

Dr. John “Jack” Hampton is a Professor of Business at St. Peter’s University in New Jersey and a core faculty member at the International School of Management (Paris). He was Executive Director of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS), dean of the schools of business at Seton Hall and Connecticut State Universities, and Provost of the College of Insurance at SUNY Maritime College in New York City.
